Dahlias on trial



One of the important things the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) does is conduct plant trials. Those plants that meet the criteria are awarded the AGM (award of garden merit). 

To receive an AGM a plant must meet the following criteria:
  • It must be of outstanding excellence for ordinary garden decoration or use
  • It must be available
  • It must be of good constitution
  • It must not require highly specialist growing conditions or care
  • It must not be particularly susceptible to any pest or disease
  • It must not be subject to an unreasonable degree of reversion in its vegetative or floral characteristics
So, when you're next in the garden centre look out for the AGM logo. It means you should be able to buy with confidence.

We went to Wisley Gardens a  few days ago and the RHS were conduction a new trial of Dahlias. So, we took a few photos...
